Opera pays homage to late Chinese premier

To honor the late Chinese premier Zhou Enlai (1898-1976), the eponymous opera debuted in Zhou’s hometown in Huaian, Jiangsu province, on Jan 8. It focuses on several historical events in which Zhou showed extraordinary wisdom, displaying his remarkable life and his contributions to the country’s greatness.
The performance also opened the national tour of the opera. It will be staged in Beijing, Tianjin and Shaoxing where Zhou studied and worked.
