Two Guangzhou Development District (GDD) projects grabbed first and second prizes at the 2020 State Science and Technology Awards Ceremony in recognition of their outstanding contributions to scientific and technological innovation.

The Ministry of Ecology and Environment's South China Institute of Environmental Science's synergistic in-depth treatment of multiple industrial smoke and gas pollutants project won the first prize of State Scientific and Technological Progress Award.

This project meets the world's most stringent standards by utilizing ultra-low emissions to reduce pollution in iron, steel, cement, glass and other industries in 32 domestic provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions as well as 23 overseas countries.

Meanwhile, GSK CNC Equipment's project for key technology and standards for monitoring and evaluating complex numerical control equipment won the second prize of State Scientific and Technological Progress Award.

The CNC Equipment project developed monitoring technologies with a parallel collection of multi-source data, and formulated a series of standards such as "Open CNC System (GB/T 18759)," which improved the performance and safety of the enterprise.

The State Science and Technology Awards represent the nation's highest honor in science and technology and aim to recognize individuals and organizations who have made remarkable contributions in these areas.
