4th World Laureates Forum to kick off in Shanghai

The 4th World Laureates Forum is set to kick off in the Lingang Special Area of the China (Shanghai) Pilot FTZ on Nov 1, with scientists ready to take on some of the most pressing global issues.

Hundreds of decorated scientists, and representatives of international organizations, universities, scientific institutions and enterprises from 23 countries will attend, said the forum's organizer.

Under strict COVID-19 control and prevention measures, more than 100 conferences, themed sub-forums, round-tables and private seminars will be held over the next three days.

The theme this year is "Open science: build an open innovation ecosystem".

The scientists will exchange views on some challenging issues including carbon emission and treatment, energy crisis, loss of biodiversity, climate change, food shortage against the backdrop of COVID-19 pandemic.

The World Laureates Forum aims to build a platform for high-level dialogue in the international scientific community. It also strives to promote international cooperation and give full support to young talent.

The forum is organized by the World Laureates Association and the China Association for Science and Technology.
