The city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region held a signing ceremony on Oct 10 to secure national coal supply.

A total of 40 coal companies in Ordos signed medium and long-term coal supply contracts with 18 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, including Tianjin municipality, provinces of Heilongjiang, Liaoning and Jilin, in the fourth quarter.

Another six leagues and cities in Inner Mongolia also signed similar contracts at the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Ordos' 15 coal enterprises signed agreements with the city's banners and districts to ensure an ample supply of coal for heating in winter.

It has been reported that an agreement for a total of 77.06 million metric tons of coal supply was signed. The actual contract volume for 18 autonomous regions, provinces, and municipalities is 53.64 million tons.

The number for Inner Mongolia's six leagues and cities is 15.65 million tons, and that for winter heating in Ordos is 7.77 million tons.

Since September, Ordos has signed a total of 100 million tons of medium and long-term coal contracts, 70 percent of the coals will be used to guarantee the coal supply of the provinces and autonomous regions outside Inner Mongolia.

There are currently 229 coal mines operating in Ordos with an average daily output exceeding 2.2 million tons.

The signing of the mid-and long-term coal supply guarantee contract will help alleviate the disparity between coal supply and demand across the country, stabilizing coal prices and promoting the healthy development of the coal industry.
