Produced by the Wuhan Peking Opera Theater, the modern Peking Opera work Mother was staged in Wuhan, Hubei province, kicking off the 17th Theater Festival. It is based on the life story of Ge Jianhao (1865-1943), a pioneering female revolutionary in China during the first half of the 20th century.
