International students at BIT aided by online courses

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, most of the international students at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) cannot return to campus. However, BIT has implemented various online teaching methods to ensure that each of them can continue to study.

International students, lecturers, and teachers at the BIT Office of International Students have worked together and devoted their efforts. Fang Yongfei, a teacher of the School of Mathematics and Statistics spoke highly of the attitude that the school’s international students have taken toward online classes.

According to China’s national regulation on epidemic prevention and control, 80 percent of international students are required to study online for the fall semester.

"No matter where the student is in the world, we must ensure that every BIT international student can keep up learning!" The university has made every effort to ensure smooth education for international students in the autumn semester, making sure that course content, teaching quality and academic progress are synchronized with students on campus.

The university has prepared professional equipment to ensure that students can follow their teachers when they are attending class on their livestreaming platform.

At the beginning of the semester, BIT launched "Yanhe Classroom", a new online teaching platform that provides strong support for international students to learn online. Students can watch live broadcasts and videos of courses online through the platform. It has multiple functions, such as courseware downloads, teacher-student communication and homework submission.

During the online teaching, BIT teachers provide timely feedback on the problems encountered by students and have created a WeChat group to provide after-school Q&A and remote tutoring for international students.

Although international students study at home, the academic atmosphere of BIT has also spread all over the world through the internet. BIT’s online classes are non-stop and can be taken 24 hours a day.

BIT will always focus on the core work of talent training, put students first, spare no effort to ensure a sound education for international students, and tirelessly build a world-class university with Chinese characteristics.
