The 10th conference for the innovative services of China's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) was held in Guangzhou Development District (GDD) on Sept 17.

Experts, scholars, entrepreneurs, government officials as well as representatives from industrial associations and service institutions attended the conference to discuss the new experiences, paths and modes for the innovative development of SMEs.

In addition to a main forum, the event also featured three parallel forums on the volunteer services, digital transformation and rights protection. A volunteer service platform and right protection platform for SMEs were launched at the conference.

The digital transformation of SMEs is an important factor that determines whether an SME can make a big career, Li Yizhong, president of China Federation of Industrial Economics, said at the conference.

Jia Kang, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, noted that the SMEs should keep up with the trend of supply-side structural reform.

Currently, the SMEs contributed to about 50 percent of tax revenue, 60 percent of GDP, 70 percent of technological innovation, 80 percent of employment and more than 90 percent of market entities in China.
