In mid-July, 10 Chinese students and 10 international students from Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) formed a joint social practice team to visit the Qinshihuang Imperial Mausoleum Museum, Shaanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Hanyangling Museum, Shaanxi Qinqiang Opera Museum, Shaanxi History Museum and Beilin Museum to conduct research on cultural relics and cultural heritage conservation.

From the Terracotta Warriors and Horses of the Qin Dynasty to the terracotta figurines of the Han Dynasty, a wide variety of cultural relics told the story of China to the team’s members.

In addition to the museum tour, the team took part in activities that included restoring terracotta figurines, acupuncture, fire cupping, wearing Chinese clothing, silk reeling, calligraphy and topography.

The calligraphy class was well received by the team. Ma Yi, an international student from Egypt, is a calligraphy enthusiast and his fluent brush writing is even better than his Chinese teammates. “I will introduce traditional Chinese culture to people around me because both Egypt and China are ancient civilizations and have a lot in common. I believe that people in Egypt will also have more understanding and love for Chinese culture, and I will tell everyone about the real China," he said. Other international students said they will actively contribute to cultural exchanges between their countries and China when they return home.
