A group of international students from Shanghai recently visited East China's Anhui province to explore local Huizhou culture and learn more about China.

The 39 visitors, who hail from countries such as Russia, Pakistan and El Salvador, are students of the East China University of Science and Technology.

Huizhou culture is an important part of traditional Chinese culture and is knwon as one of China's three regional cultures together with Dunhuang culture and Tibetan culture.

During the five-day field trip, the students visited several sites in Anhui that introduced them to the different genres of Huizhou culture such as Huizhou architecture, Huizhou tea and the four treasures of the study -- brush, ink, paper and ink stone.

The students learned that Anhui is known as the hometown of the four treasures of the study and it once produced the Xuan writing brush, Xuan paper, Hui ink and She ink stone which had an important impact in history. They also learned about the crafting process of these items at workshops.
