Yantai hosts biomedical industry conference

A conference focusing on biomedical industry is being held in Yantai, capital of East China's Shandong province, from July 28 to 30.

Officials said that the conference aims to further promote the high-quality development of biomedical industry in Yantai, deepen academic exchanges, and share innovative achievements in the field.

Yantai municipal government signed agreements with the Shandong Provincial Market Supervision Administration and the Shandong Provincial Drug Administration in an effort to promote drug safety work and also the development of pharmaceutical industry in Yantai.

The Yantai government is paying great attention to strengthening drug supervision in the city. The city has established an industrial development promotion mechanism, held biomedical events, and attracted high-end talents to boot the city’s medicine industry.

Yantai also signed cooperation agreements with Shandong Traditional Chinese Medicine University and Binzhou Medical University to accelerate the application of high-technologies in the medical industry.

Yantai has seen robust development of its biomedical industry in recent years. The total revenue of biomedical companies in Yantai reached 100.6 billion yuan ($15.54 billion) in 2020.
