Agreements for projects worth a total of 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) were signed on June 25 to be carried out in the Jiangsu Provincial Huishan High-tech Zone, which is currently being developed in Luoshe town, Huishan district, Wuxi.

The projects included industrial and digital economy industrial parks, commercial complexes, and agricultural bases, aiming to get win-win achievements with the highly-anticipated zone.

Another 12 projects, including the Yangtze River Delta Industrial Internet Base, Luoshe No 2 Central Primary School, and Grand Canal Cultural Park, started construction as well.

In the early 1980s, Luoshe town gradually began urbanizing by developing industry, which helped to lift the people out of poverty. This model of development is known as the "Sunan pattern".

In 2020, the local gross domestic product of Luoshe town exceeded 18 billion yuan, ranking 46th among China's top 100 towns and villages.

According to the development plans released during the event, the Huishan High-tech Zone will work to build a "3+N" modern industrial system, referring to three leading industries -- aerospace, future automobiles, and smart logistics, as well as various emerging industries, such as the industrial internet, additive manufacturing, and quantum sensing.

In addition, the high-tech zone will work to introduce national technological innovation platforms, technology infrastructures, new-type R&D institutions, and high-end talent to speed up its development.

The Huishan High-tech Zone was approved by the Jiangsu Provincial Government on Jan 9, 2021.
