Wuxi woos high-tech talent

The 7th city competition of the 2021 Taihu Cup International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was held in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on June 22.

This year's competition has attracted over 5,200 projects, including 718 foreign ones and 373 from Wuxi. Projects involved in the fields of new-generation information technology, new energy and new materials accounted for 35 percent and 17 percent of the projects, respectively.

About 2,500 projects have been taking part in 12 city competitions in Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, and Wuxi since June 8, according to organizers. Over 70 projects will be awarded in the finals.

During the competition, officials and businessmen from the Wuxi National Hi-tech District also sought out cooperation on talent, projects, funds, and industries in Xi'an.

WND leads the development of innovation and industries in Wuxi. It is home to 32 national and provincial maker spaces and incubators for start-ups. In 2020, 1,480 science and technological enterprises were built in the district, a year-on-year increase of 74 percent.

According to the Feifeng talent plan released by WND, talents with official recognition can receive rental subsidies for five years. A housing subsidy of up to 200,000 yuan will be given to talent with a master's degree or above.

WND also provides financial support of up to 10 million yuan to each leading talent team. Enterprises operating there can work at a free scientific research office with 15 square meters per capita.
