ECNU 2021 summer "Chinese Tour" online program

This summer, the East China Normal University (ECNU) Global Education Center will launch the 2021 Summer "Chinese Tour" Language Program using an online teaching mode. The rich course content will highlight elements of Chinese society and culture, and help students to take a leap forward in comprehensive Chinese ability and deepen understanding of Chinese society and culture. 1. Course Instruction

1) Conversational Chinese Program

Improve your ability to listen, speak, read and write Chinese in an all-round way, and enhance your daily oral communication ability and cross-cultural communication level.

Program Duration:

Session 1: July 5 - July 30, 2021 (4 weeks)

Session 2: August 2 - August 27, 2021 (4 weeks)

* You can apply for Sessions 1&2 at the same time

Class Schedule:

Option 1: Monday - Friday 09:00-9:30, 9:40-10:10, 10:20-10:50,

Option 2: Monday - Friday 15:00-15:30, 15:40-16:10, 16:20-16:50,

* all times are Beijing time

Tuition Fee:

2,500 RMB/ one session

Program Features:

*  Flexible learning: real-time interaction with teachers and students in class; watch the recorded video repeatedly anytime and anywhere after class; flexible school system allows students to choose class time.

*  Rich practical knowledge: diverse curriculum elements include intensive reading, speaking, practice courses and expansion courses, which are combined together to improve language ability in multiple dimensions and strengthen the learning effect.

*  Cultural experience: the program offers lectures on social economy and traditional folk customs to deepen students' understanding of Chinese society and culture; it also carries out cultural experience activities and online communication between Chinese and foreign students to broaden their horizons and increase the fun of learning Chinese.

*  Completion certificate: official electronic transcripts and completion certificate will be issued to students who successfully complete the course at the end of the program.

* In the practice course, the elementary class focuses on learning Chinese characters and phonetics, while the intermediate and advanced classes focus on the language theme display;

* The expansion course includes extracurricular reading, audio-visual and oral training;

* The timetable above is an example, while the curriculum of each class is subject to the actual teaching arrangement.

Teaching Plan:

* Level & grade: this program is divided into six levels from elementary to advanced; an online Chinese proficiency interview will be carried out before opening the class.

* Textbook: New Target Oral Chinese Textbook series (Beijing Language and Culture University Press), electronic version.

* Cultural activities: the program offers a series of lectures on social economy and traditional folk customs, carries out a variety of cultural experience activities such as calligraphy, tea ceremony and Hanfu, as well as Chinese Show, ECNU Chinese & Foreign Youth Talk, urban campus knowledge, theme salon and other activities, providing an online social and cultural exploration of China.

2) Business Chinese Program

Business and trade Chinese as the main teaching content, including enterprise introduction, banking business, recruitment, employment, benefits, enterprise team training and other topics, improve students' Chinese communication and application ability in business and career environment.

July 19, 2021- August 27, 2021（6 weeks)

Class Schedule: 

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 19:00-20:50

Program Features:

* Specially customized: customized for business men or students who take it as their career development, accumulate business vocabulary, master business work expression; teaching based on small-scale class and fine management.

* Rich courses: business activity courses include business culture, business cases, special salons, etc., with opportunities to learn about the Chinese economy, corporate culture, management modes, business etiquette, etc.

* Current hot spots: choose economic hot spots, company brands and business activities with timeliness and authenticity as teaching cases.

* Business salon: invite experts and professors to open economic lectures for students, carry out business theme salon, discuss social hot spots, economic trends, market development, enterprise management and other topics in the form of workshop, so as to provide a broader exchange platform for students.

* Completion certificate: official electronic transcripts and completion certificate will be issued at the end of the program to students who successfully complete the course.

Timetable:

* Level & grade: set up the advanced class of business Chinese, which requires applicants’ Chinese language level to be equivalent to HSK5 or above; carry out online Chinese level interviews before opening the class. Teaching Plan:

* Application fee: 200 RMB

* Age requirement: 16-55 years old

* Application materials and application fees are not refundable once submitted.

Classes will be open with more than six students of each level. Whether the class will be started depends on the specific situation and the number of students enrolled.

3. Application Deadline

The 1st session of Conversational Chinese: June 18, 2021

The 2nd session of Conversational Chinese: July 16, 2021

Business Chinese: July 1, 2021

4. How to pay?

After taking the online placement test, log into the online application system to pay the online tuition fee within the given time.

5. Refund Rules

The first week is a free trial period and you can apply for a full refund within the first week. We will not accept refund requests after the first week of classes.

6. Visa & Accommodation

Study visa and on-campus accommodation will not be provided for the online summer program.
