New York University (NYU) Shanghai recently announced that students from 84 countries and regions have gained admission for 2021.

Each class of NYU Shanghai undergraduates has an almost equal mix of Chinese and international students who are mainly from the United States.

This year, about 45 percent of the international students admitted came from countries other than the United States, such as India, Kazakhstan, South Korea and Pakistan.

Despite the COVID-19 epidemic, the university received applications from 18,713 students from about 155 countries, a record number and an increase of 12 percent compared to last year.

The number of applications from countries other than China and the United States has surged by 53 percent. Applications from the United States grew by 6 percent.

NYU Shanghai is China's first Sino-US research university and the third degree-granting campus of the NYU Global Network. It was founded in 2012 by New York University and East China Normal University with the support of the city of Shanghai and the district of Pudong. Its renowned scholars, innovators, and educators are recruited from the world's best research universities.
