China's largest charging station for electric buses was put into use in Gongshu district, Hangzhou on March 29, local media outlets reported.

With 401 parking lots and 304 charging piles, the station can power more than 400 electric buses with 60,000 kilowatt hours every day, helping the city reduce carbon emissions by 28 metric tons per day and nearly 10,000 tons per year.

The charging piles also became more sophisticated, as they can automatically identify bus models, close deals, and charge fees after being connected to a bus.

The station is also equipped with an intelligent control system that allows buses to charge at low power during peak electricity consumption times and gradually increases power after 10 pm.

The intelligent charging station was Hangzhou's response to the national goal of peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. Statistics show that buses in urban areas of Hangzhou are all electric as of 2021.
