ECNU undergraduate program admission guide for international students

Duration: 4 years

Beginning: Early September

Application Deadline: June 15, 2021 (self-funded program); for the scholarship application deadline please refer to the Scholarships section.

Eligibility

1. High school qualification or above with valid foreign passport.

2. Applicants should meet the conditions set by Document No. 12 (2020) of the Ministry of Education of the PRC.

3. Applicants for the English for Overseas Students major and majors in the School of International Chinese Studies should have HSK-4 (180 or above), and applicants for other Chinese-taught programs should have HSK-5 (180 or above). Applicants for English-taught programs from non-English native speaking countries should have an IELTS (6.0 or above)/TOFEL (80 or above)/Cambridge English (B2 or above) certificate.

4. A guardian's Letter of Guarantee is required for applicants under 18 years old. The guardian should be in China.

Application documents

1. ECNU International Students Application Form

Please log into the online application system at lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn to fill in the application form.

2. High School Graduation Certificate

A scanned copy of the original certificate. If it's not in Chinese or English, a notarized and translated version in Chinese or English is required.

Graduating students should provide a certificate of their impending graduation. The expected date to obtain the degree certificate should be earlier than August 31, 2021 and the graduation certificate must be submitted when registering;

3. Complete High School Transcript

Must be in Chinese or English. Notarized Chinese or English translations are required for other languages;

4. Language Proficiency Certificate

For Chinese-taught programs: copy of an effective (gained within last 2 years) HSK certificate. Required HSK levels for each major are listed on bachelor major list.

For English taught programs: IELTS (6.0 or above)/TOFEL (80 or above)/Cambridge English (B2 or above) certificate.

5. Letter of Self-recommendation (500-800 words; applicants of Chinese-taught programs should write in Chinese.)

6. Photocopy of Passport (including personal information page and Chinese visa pages)

7. Guardian's Letter of Guarantee is required for applicants under 18 years old.

Documents required by Scholarship programs:

1. Effective (within 6 months) Health Certificate

Physical examination report must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form, and provide a detailed blood test report. Incomplete forms or forms without the applicants' photograph, a sealed photograph of the applicant, the official stamp of the hospital, or signature of physician are considered invalid.

2. Non-criminal Certificate (notarized photocopy in English or Chinese).

Documents required by school or institute:

1. For applicants to the School of Design, a video of self-introduction and design procedure is required.

2. Applicants to the School of Fine Art must submit their latest original artwork.

*The application documents and application fee will not be returned whether you are accepted or not.

Application and admission procedures

1. Apply online

Log into the ECNU International Student Online Application Website: http://lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn/. Please register and submit your online application. Upload your application documents and pay the 800 RMB application fee online. This is non-refundable.

* Scholarship applicants should also register and submit their application form on scholarship websites.

2. Take part in the interview

After receiving the interview notice, please attend the interview on time. The specific interview time is subject to the email notification. Please ensure that your email address is correct.

3. Track your application status online

Pay attention to your email or log into your ECNU application account online to check your application status.

4. Admission and university enrollment

The result of your application will be announced via your application account. Admitted students must register on the date mentioned on the admission letter and bring their original graduation certificate to be checked. Your enrollment will be canceled if you do not provide the relevant certificates.

1. Applicants must ensure that the application information and application materials provided are true and accurate. If the admission unit or the certificate authority verifies that anything in the application is not true, the application, admission or study qualification will be canceled.

2. Once admitted, applicants cannot be registered at two universities at the same time. If this is found to be the case, the study qualification will be canceled.
