Zhanjiang's foreign trade rises by over 15% in Jan-Feb

The total value of exports and imports in Zhanjiang saw a year-on-year increase of 15.8 percent to 7.13 billion yuan ($1.09 billion) in the first two months of 2021, according to statistics recently released by Zhanjiang Customs.

The city's export value in the first two months of this year was 2.25 billion yuan, an increase of 16.8 percent year-on-year, while its import value reached 4.88 billion yuan, an increase of 15.3 percent.

Zhanjiang's main export commodities from January to February were aquatic seafood products, furniture, household appliances and clothing. These had an export value of 510 million yuan, 390 million yuan, 300 million yuan, and 130 million yuan respectively, with a year-on-year growth rate of 38 percent, 52.3 percent, 40.9 percent, and 47.9 percent.

In terms of enterprise categories, the imports and exports of private enterprises in Zhanjiang in the first two months of this year saw an increase of 9.9 percent to 2.3 billion yuan, comprising 32.3 percent of the city's total foreign trade. Foreign-funded enterprises in Zhanjiang had a total import-export volume of 2.33 billion yuan, a 94.2 percent year-on-year increase and 32.7 percent of the city's total foreign trade.

In terms of trade methods, the imports and exports of general trade from January to February saw an increase of 1 percent to 4.89 billion yuan, or 68.6 percent of Zhanjiang's total foreign trade. The import and export total of bonded logistics reached 1.83 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 186.6 percent and 25.7 percent of the city's total foreign trade volume.

Over the period, the main sources of imports to Zhanjiang were Brazil, the Middle East, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Imports from these three regions accounted for 61.3 percent of the city's total import value.
