A.A.M Muzahid is a PhD student from Bangladesh studying at the School of Communication and Information Engineering of Shanghai University.

He was recently awarded the "Volunteer Service Star".

Muzahid loves to organize events and help fellow students, enriching his academic life through lively activities and volunteer service.

He has helped with the "Belt and Road" College Presidents Forum and the International Education of Chinese Language Academic Forum and organized activities such as a "Language Corner" for Chinese and foreign students and the "Gateway" entrepreneurship club of Shanghai University.

He first began volunteering in 2017 after arriving in China and experiencing difficulty communicating in Chinese. He received help from Chinese and international students, which inspired him to help others in the same way.

During his second year in college, he participated in a welcome team for freshmen; offering them assistance and making them feel at home.

Muzahid has been a member of BCYSA, a spontaneous public platform that helps Bangladeshi students in China, since he first started university. He served as the president of BCYSA from 2020 to 2021.

Muzahid was busy collecting information on Bangladeshi students attending the school and living in Shanghai this Spring Festival with a focus on the COVID-19 epidemic. He has arranged for Bangladeshi students to collect masks for his university and was interviewed by Bangladeshi television and radio media, telling the world about China's fight against the epidemic.

Through volunteering, Muzahid has managed to transform himself and his world view. He said that he hopes more people will get involved in volunteering and he is determined to continue with his work, which has now become an indispensable part of his life.

"I'm doing my favorite thing — helping others. Although our reach is limited, thousands of us are on the way. You get more out of volunteering than you put in," Muzahid said.
