Pudong New Area in Shanghai has piloted the application of smart administrative procedures powered by artificial intelligence technology, which has covered all business registration windows at the district's service center for enterprises, local media outlets reported.

Official statistics show that by the end of February, the smart administrative procedures had served 3,762 companies, with the "one-time" approval rate exceeding 98 percent.

Hong Anqi, chief of the legal affairs department of a local pharmaceutical company, said that she had no idea about how to update company information and had not prepared any materials. However, the computer automatically generated the required application materials within 10 minutes after the center's officer learned about her needs.

"I didn't expect it to be so easy and convenient," said Hong, who was deeply impressed by the high efficiency of the smart administrative procedures.

Officials explained that staff members at the service windows are able to acquire all information about unsettled affairs by scanning the company's digital code or referring to the certificate data base, exempting companies from having to prepare piles of materials.

Business operators also have no need to worry about how to fill in application forms, as the AI technology will seize all required information from the database and automatically generate the forms based on the rules of related approval procedures.

The materials can be confirmed and submitted on the spot or be uploaded to mobile terminals for enterprise services so that enterprises can check, download, or submit them for similar affairs afterwards without visiting the center.

"In the past, enterprises had to adapt themselves to the government's work rules. But nowadays, the government has been working to upgrade their work in accordance with enterprises' needs," said Huang Haixia, deputy director of the enterprises service center.
