SXU partners with firms to build industrial tech research institutes

A signing ceremony for industrial technology research institutes jointly established by Shanxi University (SXU) and Shanxi enterprises was held at the university on March 5.

At the ceremony, the university signed 11 agreements to build industrial technology research institutes with 12 enterprises, including Huaxin Gas Co, Shanxi Transportation Holdings Group Co, Shanxi Construction Investment Group Co and Shanxi Cloud Era Technology Co.

The agreements cover fields including big data and artificial intelligence, energy development and utilization, big health and biomedicine, and modern agriculture.

Wang Yixin, vice-governor of Shanxi province, unveiled the nameplates of these industrial technology research institutes and told the ceremony's attendees that these institutes should bravely aspire to reach the forefront of science and technology. The institutes should develop into innovation platforms that attract first-class talent, research first-class topics and achieve first-class results.

He hoped that Shanxi University can achieve a revival and make significant technological breakthroughs with these institutes' help.

Shanxi University will integrate into the regional innovation system, develop the new institutes with enterprise partners, and contribute to science and education undertakings. The ultimate goal is the high-quality transformation and development of Shanxi province, said Wang Yanglin, Party secretary of the university.

According to the agreements, the co-construction of the institutes will be application- and demand-oriented, with large-scale and continuous project cooperation. The institutes will focus on 14 iconic leading emerging industries and strive to achieve breakthroughs in six areas: new infrastructure, new technologies, new materials, new equipment, new products and new industries.
