33 Ningbo entrepreneurs make Hurun Global Rich List 2021

Thirty-three entrepreneurs from Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province made the Hurun Global Rich List 2021, five more than last year.

Ningbo, which is home to 21 of these entrepreneurs, was ranked 25th in the world in terms of the number of billionaires.

NetEase founder and CEO Ding Lei retained his position as the richest person in the city with a personal fortune of 245 billion yuan ($37.7 billion), the 38th highest in the world.

Ding is followed by Ma Jianrong, president of Shenzhou International Group, at 94 billion yuan, and Yu Renrong, president of Shanghai Will Semiconductor Co Ltd, at 90 billion yuan.

Zhu ZhaoJiang, founder of Shenzhen Transmission Holding Co Ltd, achieved the fastest growth in wealth among Ningbo entrepreneurs. He was ranked 823th on the list, up 1,177 spots from last year.

His company's market valuation is now approaching 150 billion yuan as its share price rose from over 40 yuan per share last March to 261 yuan per share on Feb 9.

According to the list, Beijing is the billionaire capital of the world with 145 billionaires. Shanghai overtook New York to claim second place this year with 113 billionaires. Six of the top 10 cities with the most billionaires are in China.

China's billionaire population grew by 259 to 1,058, which is more than the combined total of the next three countries - the United States, India and Germany.

Zhong Shanshan, 67, founder of Chinese bottled water giant Nongfu Spring, became the first Chinese to break into the Hurun Global Rich List top 10 with a personal fortune of $85 billion, ranking seventh in the world and first in China.
