Dalian maintains following strict guidelines to prevent cold-chain COVID-19 transmission

The port city Dalian, in Northeast China's Liaoning province, maintains precautions for imported cold-chain foods to cut off the transmission of COVID-19 from overseas, local authorities said at a news conference on Monday.

Qu Shouwei, director of Dalian's Administration for Market Regulation, said that most cold-chain foods imported to Dalian are from areas at high risk for the virus and regulators will keep checking personnel, objects and the environment related to imported cold-chain goods.

In July and December, the city recorded two rounds of infections related to cold chain imports.

Since the beginning of January, Dalian has carried out a citywide investigation in areas with potential risks in the cold chain industry.

According to Qu, they had investigated a total of 2,261 cold-chain and related units, including 311 imported cold-chain units. A total of 4,135 risks and hidden dangers have been identified, and 3,293 have been corrected.

Products in 2,007 cold storages with a total inventory of 355,938 tons are able to be checked and disinfected batch by batch.

Seven designated cold storage areas, the first stop to receive imported frozen products for nucleic acid testing and disinfection, have passed testing and are permitted to be put into operation.

With codes attached to all imported goods, it is easy to trace them, Qu said.

In addition, Dalian issued the guidelines to promote the healthy, standardized and high-quality development of the cold chain industry.
