The establishment of Wuxi College was officially approved by the Ministry of Education on Dec 24.

The school, located in the Xishan district of Wuxi, will be developed from the Binjiang College at the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST). It will become the first public general undergraduate university in Jiangsu province to be developed from an independent college.

Located at No 333 Xishan Avenue in Xishan district, the campus covers an area of 73.4 hectares beside the core area of Xidong New City. It is about 1 kilometer way from the Wuxi East Railway Station and metro line 2.

The college has set up 11 institutes, including the schools of internet of things engineering, electronic information engineering, automation, rail transit, environmental and biological engineering, atmosphere and remote sensing, science, business, humanities, law and politics, media and art and international education.

Binjiang College of NUIST, one of China's key higher education institutions, opened in Wuxi in 2017. It aims to meet the demand of the city's developing economy by offering full-time undergraduate education and various training programs.

Binjiang College has been ranked in the top 20 of Chinese independent institutions by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy.
