Daxing airport area shares innovative growth ambitions

The Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone released its second list of institutional innovations at this year's T-EDGE conference on Dec 18.

A total of 39 measures involving the six sectors of airport development, biomedicine, overseas business district, digital economy, finance and regional collaboration have been made to boost the free trade zones in the airport area.

Eight items pertaining to airport development led to breakthroughs in aviation maintenance and logistics that are expected to drive the construction of an international hub.

Biomedicine, the airport area's key industry, introduced six measures to promote related research and enterprise development.

As for the overseas business district, 13 moves will be implemented to improve the area's commercial service, and to ramp up its appeals to enterprises and high-end talents.

Notably, the first 81 results of institutional innovation listed were launched this year and have been put into practice. To date, there are 306 new market players in this area.

As the capital city has been engaged in building the Beijing FTZ and a national integrated demonstration zone to open in the service sector wider, Daxing will enjoy the preferential policies of the "two zones" to speed up its institutional innovative plans.

Meanwhile, with collaboration of the Beijing FTZ and Hebei FTZ in place, the airport will play an important role in enhancing coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

According to the meeting, Daxing will take the lead in reforms of land use and construction projects with an eye on governmental service and management, investment and trade facilitation to foster a fine business environment.

The airport area is also preparing a document describing improvements in a high-end industrial part of the Beijing FTZ for release by the end of this year.
