Zhoushan and Shanghai ports recently boosted cooperation as Zhoushan-based CNPC Shanggang Energy Company has begun supplying bonded bunker oil in Shanghai, local media reported on Dec 14.

CNPC Shanggang was certified to refuel international ships in Nov. On Dec 12, its bunkering tanker No 1 Ziyun took six hours to refuel 1,000 metric tons of low-sulphur bonded bunker oil to container ship EMC THALASSA HELLAS at Yangshan Port in Shanghai, which also marked the normalization of cross-port oil supply between Shanghai and Zhoushan.

Luo Wenbin, president of CNPC Shanggang, said that the bonded bunker oil supply at Zhoushan Port exceeded 4 million tons last year, while the annual bonded bunker oil supply at Shanghai Port is roughly 2 million tons.

However, as an important part of the global maritime network, Shanghai Port delivered more than 43.3 million twenty-foot equivalent units in 2019, the largest number in the world for 10 years in a row, reflecting its strong potential in supplying bonded bunker oil.

CNPC Shanggang, jointly established by Shanghai International Port Group and China National Petroleum Corporation, aims to expand its bonded bunker oil supply business in Shanghai.

"How to further improve the supporting facilities at anchorage grounds and the efficiency of oil supply, as well as offer convenient services to ship owners, is our next task," said a staff member from the Zhoushan shipping and port bureau.

The anchorage ground to the north of Shulanghu Island is rather close to Yangshan port area and is home to four anchorage berths, which are expected to offer oil supply services to container ships waiting to anchor at Yangshan Port.

The staff member said that Zhoushan and Shanghai ports will explore the promotion of marine services, including material supply, technical support, and crew service, in the future.
