Hechi promotes breeding industry for market supply

Since the beginning of this year, Hechi has taken strong measures to fully respond to the negative impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the African swine fever outbreak, bolstering the production of its animal husbandry industry.

In the first three quarters of the year, the city had a total meat output of 147,700 tons, completing 75.7 percent of the annual task.

Hechi has increased financial support, introduced farming companies, as well as adopted poverty alleviation policies to help put large, medium, and small farms into operation, helping the pig industry recover. In addition, the supervision of the quality and safety of livestock and poultry products have been strengthened to effectively guarantee the quality, as well as the ecological and social public safety of products.

At the end of the third quarter, the city had livestock of 1.09 million pigs, an increase of 87.3 percent from the 582,000 pigs at the beginning of the year. At present, the city has 546 large-scale pig farms with more than 100 pigs, four newly-built farms with 10,000 pigs, and 12 large-scale farms with more than 2,000 pigs. The city's pig breeding model has gradually shifted from free-range pig breeding to small and medium-scale, as well as standardized scale breeding.

At present, the city has 12 companies with more than 500 cattle, eight companies with more than 1,000 cattle, and one company with more than 5,000 cattle. It also has 28 companies with more than 1,000 sheep.

It also has a total of 835 companies with more than 1,000 chickens, 254 with more than 5,000 chickens, and 82 with more than 10,000 chickens. Among them, Guangxi Huagang Agricultural Group and Huarun Group have built 70 breeding bases in Fengshan county, Bama Xiaogu Chicken Company stocks 30,000 sets of breeding chickens and built 29 poverty alleviation breeding bases, while Donglan Liteng Company stocks 80,000 sets of breeding chickens and built 45 poverty alleviation breeding bases.
