JUBA -- China is committed to maintaining a robust bilateral cooperation with South Sudan in multiple areas like health, education and infrastructure, an envoy said on Nov 13.

Hua Ning, Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan, said that Beijing will promote ties with the world's youngest republic to realize mutual benefits.

"Ambassador Hua reviewed the joint anti-COVID-19 cooperation and practical cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, health service, and education between the two countries," the Chinese embassy said in a statement issued in Juba after meeting South Sudan's speaker of the Transitional National Assembly.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on enhancing cooperation between the peoples of the two countries.

Hua said that China will continue to support the implementation of the revitalization peace agreement, adding that Beijing is keen to provide support within its capacity for the economic and social development of South Sudan.

Ubuch Ujwok Akuo, Speaker of the Transitional National Assembly, lauded China for its valuable support for South Sudan's epidemic control, the peace process, and economic development.

"The assembly is willing to deepen friendly exchanges with the Chinese legislature as a means of promoting the continuous development of bilateral relations between the two countries," said Ujwok.
