Enthusiasm high at AI conference in Taiyuan

The 2020 China (Taiyuan) Artificial Intelligence (AI) Conference opened on Oct 31 in Taiyuan, the capital city of North China's Shanxi province.

The conference will run until Nov 3 and is hosted by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, Chinese Association of Automation, Institute of Software at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, CPC Taiyuan Municipal Committee, Taiyuan's municipal government, Shanxi Science and Technology Department and Shanxi Department of Industry and Information Technology.

It aims to build a high-end platform dedicated to cooperative research, development and application, technical exchange and investment attraction. It will also promote the development of the digital economy and AI and IT application innovation industries, providing new momentum for the high-quality transformation and development of Taiyuan and Shanxi.

The conference is being attended by academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, entrepreneurs from leading IT and internet enterprises – such as Huawei, Alibaba, iFLYTEK and China Electronics Co – and researchers. Many of these attendees are delivering speeches on the development of AI and IT application innovation industries.

The event's activities include an AI theme exhibition, National AI College Dean (Department Chair) Forum, a discussion on 5G-based industrial internet and project matchmaking.

A total of 40 domestic AI and robotics enterprises are participating in the theme exhibition, displaying over 300 intelligent products and innovative solutions in an exhibition area of 3,000 square meters. These companies are displaying the core technologies, chief products and innovative achievements of the current AI industry.

Twenty-one projects with a total investment of 8.9 billion yuan ($1.33 billion) have been signed at the conference, covering fields such as advanced computing, big data, semiconductors, intelligent manufacturing, static traffic construction, internet financial development and software security technology innovation.
