In 2014, the construction started on the Sino-Singapore Eco-City Hospital of Tianjin Medical University, the Airport International Hospital, and the Binhai New Area Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Dagang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Port Hospital, and Tanggu Anding Hospital were put into use. A batch of street and township health centers, community health service centers, and village medical rooms had completed standardization construction. Some public hospitals were upgraded; of these, Peking University Binhai Hospital became a 3A hospital. High-end private hospitals as well as high-end overseas community health service institutions were introduced. The population management service center was established. A free pre-pregnancy checkups trial program and an action plan promoting women and children's health were conducted.
In 2019, Binhai Hospital of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital started operation; the interior decoration and exterior curtain walls of the outpatient and emergency buildings of Binhai Hospital were basically completed; the refined decoration and exterior curtain walls of Binhai New Area Cancer Hospital were completed, and the mechanical and electrical installation of outdoor projects was underway. Ten smart clinics had been constructed, and 28 smart clinics were under construction.
An action plan promoting women and children's health benefited 216,000 residents, and 95 percent of pregnant women received the pre-pregnancy screening of infectious diseases and the pregnancy screening of thyroid function. A total of 1.41 million resident health records were created, and 203,200 senior residents aged 60 and above completed health checkups. By the end of 2019, there were 815 medical and health institutions in the new area, including 57 hospitals, 176 community health service centers (stations), 114 village medical rooms and 267 clinics. The medical institutions had 8,595 beds, including 8,205 beds in hospitals and 300 beds in community health service centers. There were 15,426 medical personnel, including 6,280 medical practitioners and 6,001 registered nurses.
