Binhai New Area has been focusing on developing education by introducing high-quality educational resources from home and abroad and striving to accomplish a significant improvement in the overall strength of the area's educational institutions. 

By 2019, Tianjin Binhai New Area had 344 schools and kindergartens, accommodating 217,600 students and 23,100 faculty members. They included 12 secondary vocational schools with 6,099 students, 31 senior high schools with 22,000 students, 60 junior high schools with 43,800 students, 94 primary schools with 112,300 students, three special education schools with 426 students, and 143 kindergartens with 33,000 children. In 2019, the enrollment rate of junior high school graduates was 98 percent, and the attendance rate at senior high schools was 98 percent.

Since 2016, 26 primary and secondary schools have been built in the new area, including Binhai Tianjin Normal University Affiliated School, Dagang Dongcheng Primary School, Lingang Experimental Primary School (in cooperation with Tsinghua University Primary School), Tianjin No 1 High School Binhai School, and Nankai High School Binhai Eco-city School. Over the next two years, 13 primary schools including Xinjiayuan No 3 Primary School, Tianjin Foreign Studies University Dongjiang Foreign Language School, 12 nine-year consistent education schools, and seven middle schools including Tanggu Xingang Junior High School and Tianjin Experimental High School Haigangcheng School will be constructed.
