Changshan county in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province held several symposiums during the eight-day Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday on Oct 1-8 to encourage talent to return to Changshan and help boost small business startups in its towns and villages.

Some 42 projects have been introduced to Changsha by talent in the county since the start of this year, costing 4.66 billion yuan ($693.7 million) -- accounting for 58 percent and 52 percent, respectively, of the total number of projects and planned project expenditure in the county this year.

Additionally, roughly 12 billion yuan has been invested in the construction of a "village talent" project.

Ye Guofu recently returned to his hometown of Xucun village, where he established a successful 13 hectare plant and flower base.

From July 25 to Aug 25 this year, the village held a crape-myrtle blossom season activity, attracting more than 100,000 tourists and bringing in 10 million yuan in tourism revenue.

In order to support villagers looking to return home, Changshan has rolled out a number of financial services to encourage them to start business in the county.

At present, the county has more than 3,100 professionals operating in various fields, nearly 1,000 of which are returnees.

A total of 128 professionals working outside the village have promised to return to the village to run for office in the near future.
