Sept 3: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 11 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 6 in Shaanxi province, 3 in Guangdong province and 2 in Sichuan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 17 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 889 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Sept 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,528 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,356 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 172 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 2, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,077 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,251 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 192 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 816,868 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,259 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 12 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 14 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 12 imported cases) and 2 cases became confirmed cases (both were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Sept 2, 349 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 334 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 2, 5,365 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,830 in Hong Kong (93 had died and 4,401 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 489 in Taiwan (7 had died and 471 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
