Aug 30: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 29, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 9 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Guangdong province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 27 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,559 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Aug 29, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,482 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,300 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 182 confirmed cases (including 4 in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 29, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,031 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,153 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 244 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 814,635 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,787 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 29, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 4 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 17 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 10 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Aug 29, 338 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 305 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 29, 5,320 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,786 in Hong Kong (87 had died and 4,287 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 488 in Taiwan (7 had died and 462 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
