Aug 27: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 26, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 8 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 4 in Sichuan province, 2 in Hebei province and 2 in Shanghai municipality), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 31 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,189 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 3.

As of 24:00 on Aug 26, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,455 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,243 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 212 confirmed cases (including 4 in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Aug 26, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,004 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,046 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 324 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 813,571 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 11,227 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 26, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 18 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 12 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Aug 26, 365 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 317 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 26, 5,267 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,734 in Hong Kong (79 had died and 4,161 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 487 in Taiwan (7 had died and 462 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
