Longkou, Laizhou, and Zhaoyuan in Yantai, Shandong province were included among China's top 100 counties, according to a list released by CCID Consulting Group on July 28.

The list was based on overall economic strength, growth potential, prosperity, and ecofriendly development.

CCID Consulting Group is a scientific research institute directly attached to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

It has been committed to the study of the economy, regional development, and emerging industries in China for many years. Thus, its rankings are considered highly credible and authoritative.

Longkou ranked 10th on the list, while Laizhou and Zhaoyuan ranked 48th and 52nd, respectively.

Longkou, a county-level city, is focused on the development of seven industries, including high-end aluminum materials, high-end equipment manufacturing, and food processing.

Longkou fensi, a type of vermicelli made from bean starch, is a specialty popular in Yantai and throughout China, and has even been exported overseas.

With a history of more than 6,000 years, Laizhou is rich in resources and is home to many developed industries. It has 239 enterprises above designated size.

Zhaoyuan is home to rich gold reserves, accounting for one-tenth of China’s total gold reserves. Its gold output has ranked first in China for the past 44 years.

It has cultivated five major industries, including gold, tires and auto parts, and electronic information.
