Moves made to boost links between Shanghai, Dalian

A government delegation from Dalian – major coastal port city in Northeast China's Liaoning province -- visited the eastern Chinese megacity of Shanghai on July 13 on a fact finding mission to learn from administrative experience and discuss boosting relations, according to Dalian officials.

Shanghai's Party secretary Li Qiang and acting mayor Gong Zheng hosted a meeting with the delegation.

Zhou Bo, deputy Party secretary of Liaoning province; Liao Guoxun, deputy Party secretary of Shanghai; Tan Zuojun, member of CPC Standing Committee of Liaoning Province and secretary of the CPC Committee of Dalian, delivered speeches.

Deputy mayor of Shanghai Peng Chenlei gave a briefing on key cooperation programs between the two regions and Dalian mayor Chen Shaowang introduced Dalian's economic developments and cooperation work between Shanghai and Dalian.

Officials said that the Shanghai office for Dalian city was unveiled on the same day.

Shanghai's Party secretary Li said he was grateful for the long-term support from Liaoning province and Dalian, and talked about Shanghai's efforts in novel coronavirus epidemic control and about economic developments.

Deputy Party secretary of Liaoning Zhou expressed gratitude for Shanghai's support for Liaoning province and Dalian’s regional development.

Liao Guoxun, deputy Party secretary of Shanghai, said the industrial synergies between Shanghai and Dalian was high and the two cities balanced each other in many fields. The two regions had made significant progress in various areas in their three-year partnership, Liao added.

Meanwhile, Liaoning’s Tan reviewed major achievements between the two partners. He stressed Dalian would make more efforts to strengthen exchanges with Shanghai and attract more key projects in equipment manufacturing, artificial intelligence, the smart city and pharmaceuticals.
