Kangping set to kick off summer tourism activities

A whole host of fun summer tourism activities will kick off on July 23 at the Wolong Lake scenic area in Kangping county -- administered by the city of Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province -- and will run for more than two months, according to local reports.

Local officials said that during the event, a beer fest, a gourmet food festival, fishing competitions and short video competitions will be held. Kangping's first luminous night footpath will also open to the public during the period.

Visitors can also have a picnic at the Wolong Lake wetland park, as well as have fun at the night market and in the Wolong Lake square, officials said.

The Wolong Lake scenic area was listed as a national lake ecological environmental protection pilot area in 2012.

Covering an area of 127.5 square kilometers, Wolong Lake has 12 times the area of West Lake in Hangzhou, capital city of East China's Zhejiang province.

In 2020, the Wolong Lake scenic area was selected as one of the 10 most popular tourist attractions in Shenyang.
