Direct flight links Shenyang, Changbai Mountain

Much more convenience is being promised for passengers traveling from Shenyang city -- capital of China's Northeast Liaoning province -- to Changbai Mountain, with a direct flight linking the two destinations to be launched on July 16, according to an announcement by operator, Spring Airlines.

The new service, with the flight numbers 9C8707 and 9C8708, will operate each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

It will depart Shenyang at 07:10 am and arrive at Changbai Mountain in Northeast China's Jilin province in about an hour.

Officials said the new service will cut the travel time dramatically between two destinations, with the travel option previously being a journey of more than eight hours by train.

Changbai Mountain is a landmark tourist attraction in Jilin province with spectacular mountain views and officials say it is an ideal tourist destination in summer to escape the heat.
