Hechi invests heavily in transportation infrastructure

Hechi's transportation infrastructure has been improved during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20). In 2019, it completed an investment of 13.23 billion yuan ($1.89 billion) in transportation infrastructure, ranking second among the 14 districts in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

From 2016 to 2019, Hechi invested a total of 40 billion yuan in highway and water transportation projects. The completion of investment in transportation projects has achieved new breakthroughs year-after-year. Transportation projects accounted for more than a quarter of the city's fixed asset investment and became the main driver of the city's steady growth in investment.

Since 2016, Hechi has implemented 11 expressway projects, with a total mileage of about 700 kilometers and a total investment of about 110 billion yuan. At present, the total mileage of expressways in the city is 478 km, covering nine counties (districts). Nine expressways are currently under construction, with a total mileage of about 550 km and an investment of about 95 billion yuan.

A total of 28 projects spanning about 1,000 km in national and provincial highways have been upgraded, including 18 projects spanning 608 kilometers completed and 10 projects spanning 392 kilometers under construction. By the end of 2019, the total mileage of provincial highways in 11 counties (districts) of the city has reached 2,639 km.

Approximately 6,500 km in rural roads have been newly built or rebuilt since 2016 to improve and upgrade the conditions of rural transportation infrastructure. To date, the total mileage of rural roads in Hechi reaches 10,570 km, accounting for 77.3 percent of the total mileage of highways in the city. All 1,489 villages in 11 counties (districts) of Hechi have opened buses.

In addition, Hechi Airport was completed and opened for navigation, while the Donglan operation area and the Du'an operation area of Hechi Port were completed and opened routes from Hechi to Guangzhou, Guiping, Laibin, Guizhou, as well as regular container liners from Du'an to Donglan and Laibin.
