Guoyuan Port in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, recently successfully handled its first batch of cross-border containers from the China Railway Express, which are travelling from Russia to Shanghai along the Yangtze River, then on to Vietnam via sea.
With the help of Guoyuan Port's staff members, it took only three hours to transfer the containers from railway lines to the customs supervision and control zone at the port.
Relying on its advantages as a national logistics hub, Guoyuan Port acts as a link between the Belt and Road Initiative and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and saves 10 hours of transportation time compared with transit via the Europe Asia Land Bridge to sea transportation.
As one of the key opening-up platforms in Liangjiang, Guoyuan Port is known as the "world's transit station", both for its location and its cluster of assorted industries and projects.
