In order to consolidate poverty alleviation achievements, Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county is now promoting the eight areas of industry, education, health, settlement, social security, employment, finance, and ecology to ensure a steady increase in income, as well as continued progress from poverty to prosperity.

In the battle against poverty, 4,360 impoverished people in Huanjiang have been relocated. The county has created a follow-up poverty alleviation industrial park, planting 12,000 mu (800 hectares) of camellia trees and Chinese herbal medicine to ensure steady income for the relocated people. It has built 16 poverty alleviation workshops and provided 2,000 jobs, as well as established a new model of community governance to help relocated people integrate into the city.

The county has implemented poverty alleviation consolidation and upgrading industrial projects, rewarding households with more than one worker and independent development or substantial participation in characteristic industries and innovative development industries with funds ranging from 3,000 yuan ($421,22) to 10,000 yuan.

Huanjiang has improved its education precision assistance system to make sure that impoverished children can go to school. The reimbursement standards for medical subsidies, as well as outpatient and inpatient treatments have been increased.

People who have been lifted out of poverty are encouraged to continue increasing their income by improving their development ability and to procure a stable job. Since the beginning of this year, the county has planned and organized more than 9,000 laborers to work in coastal developed areas, such as Guangdong province and Zhejiang province, as well as set up 463 shops to encourage relocated people to start their own businesses.

In addition, Huanjiang continued to promote the integration of ecological protection and poverty alleviation efforts, guiding impoverished people to participate in ecological governance to increase their income.
