The Jiangxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism recently disclosed a newly-approved list of national AAAA-level tourist attractions. Xiaomi Flower Town scenic spot in Huichang county is on the list.
Xiaomi Flower Town opened for trial operation on May 1. It features a gourmet mall, a flower science and technology expo park and a flower garden film and television base, and has already attracted a large number of tourists.
The town is also confident in growing its flower industry thanks to its advantages which include an accessible location, low land cost, and an abundant labor force. Moreover, Xiaomi has already laid a foundation for the industry.
Meanwhile, Huichang county also hopes to expand the town's modern leisure agriculture and rural tourism industries.
By building a government-invested "tourism + rural revitalization" platform, the county has lured enterprises and investment to create a rural tourism and leisure resort that will affect surrounding areas within a two-hour driving radius.
The total investment in the flower town project is 2.75 billion yuan ($388 million); it includes 2.55 billion yuan from enterprises and about 200 million yuan from the government for the construction of supporting infrastructure. The planned area is about 3,133.33 hectares and involves five villages. It is expected to drive the economy of two other neighboring villages as well.
At present, 14 projects have been signed and launched, with investment totaling nearly 1.5 billion yuan. Of this, 700 million yuan has been used.
Further projects, including an amusement park, are under discussion.
