In 2019, Huichang realized a GDP of 12.86 billion yuan, an increase of 8.6 percent over the previous year at comparable prices. The added value of the primary industry was 2.35 billion yuan, increasing 3.3 percent; the added value of the secondary industry was 4.66 billion yuan, increasing 7.7 percent; and the added value of the tertiary industry was 5.85 billion yuan, increasing 11.1 percent.
The per capita GDP of Huichang was 27,885 yuan in 2019, an increase of 2,870 yuan or 8.1 percent over the previous year. In the county's GDP, the added value of non-public economy reached 7.49 billion yuan, with an increase of 9.7 percent over the previous year at comparable prices, accounting for 58.3 percent of GDP.
In terms of foreign trade, Huichang realized a total import and export volume of 1.19 billion yuan, with an increase of 58.13 percent over the previous year. Exports accounted for 1.15 billion yuan of that total value, an increase of 62.4 percent.
The actual utilization of foreign capital in the whole year amounted to $72.13 million, increasing 5.7 percent.
The strategy of attracting large and strong enterprises made a breakthrough withthesigning of a two-billion-yuan-investment contract and a 10-billion-yuan strategic investment framework agreement with Hunan Light Industry & Salt Industry Group.
In the whole year, 13 projects utilized investment from outside the province, six of which were worth 100 million yuan. The actual utilized investment was about 2.4 billion yuan, an increase of 8.1 percent.
