The port city of Dalian – in China’s northeastern Liaoning province -- reported high quality development in its transport sector in 2019, thanks to the accelerated construction of infrastructure and a continuously improving business environment, according to the city’s traffic authority.

Local officials said the construction of a shipping center and a logistics center was accelerated in 2019.

The city also implemented a plan to promote the construction of an international shipping center for Northeast Asia. An overall development plan for Dalian Port’s Taiping Bay Area got the green light and 10 new container routes for domestic and international trade in Asia were developed. Seven flight routes between Japan and South Korea were also added to existing routes.

Officials said the traffic network in Dalian was expanded, with more railways and roads added to the map in 2019.

Dalian also reported improving transport administration skills and services in 2019.

An optimization plan for the city’s public transport system and guidelines to support its metro system construction were released. Elsewhere, a smart services platform for cross-board logistics became a national demonstration project. Action was also taken in the taxi sector to ensure better and more orderly services.

In 2019, the traffic authorities in Dalian inspected 1,576 companies and 5,216 ships and vehicles and achieved a reduction in the number of serious and major accidents.
