May 12: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 11, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 1 new case of confirmed infections (an imported case in Inner Mongolia autonomous region), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai municipality), and no deaths. 27 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 503 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on May 11, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,691 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,611 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 80 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on May 11, the National Health Commission had received reports of 82,919 confirmed cases and 4,633 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 78,171 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 115 confirmed cases (including 10 in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. So far, 737,599 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 5,470 are now under medical observation.

On May 11, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 15 new asymptomatic cases (all are indigenous cases). 35 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 6 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on May 11, 760 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 38 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 11, 1,532 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,047 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 985 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (42 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 440 in Taiwan (7 had been dead and 368 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
