Most foreign-funded enterprises in Yantai area of the China (Shandong) Plot Free Trade Zone have resumed operation to support local governments, communities and hospitals in fighting the epidemic.

Local authorities reported that 100 percent of foreign-funded enterprises above designated size in the Yantai area of the Shandong FTZ have resumed work.

“Production has resumed, more than 312 people are on duty, and more than 90 percent of production lines are in operation. Most orders are not being affected by the epidemic,” said Guo Liming, manager of a Japanese hosiery company in the area.

Local government also ramped up efforts to support foreign companies in resuming production, including coordinating shuttle buses for employees.

Foreign companies in the area have made significant efforts to help China control the epidemic. A group of more than 300 expats in the area contacted their headquarters to gather urgently needed medical supplies. The total amount of donations is nearly 5 million yuan ($715,246.18).

The Yantai area of the Shandong FTZ, covering an area of 29.99 square kilometers, was launched on Aug 31, 2019.

It focuses on cutting-edge fields including high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, new-generation information technology, energy conservation, biomedicine, and producer services.
