A company in Yantai, eastern Shandong province is producing goggles for medical use through the use of 3D printing technology, local media reported.
Shandong CharmRay Technology Company took less than seven days to design and produce its first pair of 3D printed medical goggles.

3D printing has the advantage of being able to rapidly produce goods during an emergency.

“Amid the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak, one worker can operate 11 3D printing machines," said Lyu Zhongli, the general manager of the company.

In order to expand production, the company has invested more than 10 million yuan ($1.44 million) into the purchase of 3D printing equipment.

"Our company has donated more than 2,300 sets of 3D-printed goggles to Hubei. Now we are working overtime to supply front-line workers," Lyu said.

At present, the company can produce 500 goggles per day.

CharmRay has been engaged in the R&D of 3D printing technologies for many years and independently developed the first dual laser machine in Shandong, which is expected to be put into production in June this year.

By that time, the printing efficiency of industrial test modules is expected to be 50 percent higher than it is now.
