The second batch of medical supplies for the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) donated by Guangzhou to 18 international friendly cities were sent in late April.

The supplies mainly headed to cities in 13 countries, such as Germany, the Philippines, Spain, and Brazil, as well as the United Cities and Local Government (UCLG) and the World Congress of Metropolis.

Peter Feldmann, mayor of Frankfurt, Germany, personally received the donations from Guangzhou at Frankfurt Airport on April 20.

Feldmann expressed his gratitude to Guangzhou and noted that the supplies will be first distributed to social organizations, such as nursing homes and rehabilitation centers for the disabled.

Eckart Würzner, mayor of Heidelberg, Germany, sent a thank you letter to Guangzhou after learning about Guangzhou's plan to donate masks on April 3.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, a total of 25 international friendly cities and international organizations from 25 countries have offered support to Guangzhou through a variety of ways like sending consolation letters and donating supplies.

Guangzhou sent its first batch of anti-COVID-19 epidemic supplies to 12 international friendly cities in late March in response.
