Since the beginning of this year, in order to help impoverished households overcome difficulties in finding jobs and be lifted out of poverty, Yizhou district of Hechi has implemented employment support policies based on local reality to help the poor.

The district has built employment platforms, as well as created employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for impoverished households by taking measures, such as developing new temporary public welfare posts, setting up poverty alleviation workshops, carrying out online and offline recruitment, strengthening skills training for poor laborers, as well as providing enterprise with recruitment services to help impoverished households increase their income.

To date, 357 public welfare posts have been developed in impoverished rural areas, with 330 on-the-job personnel. In addition, according to the needs of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic prevention and control measures, 733 temporary posts like cleaning, sanitation, and checkpoint duty have been newly developed to help more than 1,000 impoverished laborers work at home.

A special working group was established to coordinate the resumption of production and work of enterprises in Yizhou, as well as the return of migrant workers. It supervised the implementation of employment priority policies, as well as increased assistance to enterprises.

Information on migrant workers who are looking for work or intend to return to work in one of the 16 townships of the district has been investigated, such as their employment intention, ability, and training needs. Yizhou has also strengthened its connection with enterprises, finding out the employment needs of enterprises and releasing job information through platforms like its WeChat account and BBS website.

The district has helped all 17 poverty alleviation workshops resume production, driving 4,455 people in employment, including 171 impoverished people.

As of April 21, the district had issued 1.733 million yuan ($244,874) in various poverty alleviation employment subsidies for 1,228 people in the urban areas and 16 townships of Yizhou.
