The Guangzhou International Campus of South China University of Technology (SCUT) launched its spring teacher recruitment plan facing the globe on April 26.

The recruitment plan mainly involves four colleges of the university: the School of Biomedical Sciences and Engineering, the Shien-Ming Wu School of Intelligent Engineering, the School of Molecular Science and Engineering and the School of Microelectronics, covering several cutting-edged interdisciplinary fields such as biomaterials, artificial intelligence (AI), and molecular design and synthesis.

The recruitment system will receive applications online and employ tenure-track teaching staff members. Applicants meeting certain requirements will receive a housing allowance ranging from 1 million yuan ($141,330) to 10 million yuan.

SCUT noted that the campus will provide adequate places for new employees to carry out scientific research as well as competitive start-up funds. Talents apartments will also be available.

The Guangzhou International Campus, jointly set up by the Ministry of Education, the People's Government of Guangdong Province, Guangzhou government and SCUT, put its first phase into operation in September 2019 and the construction of the campus will be completed by 2021.

The campus will launch cooperation with prestigious overseas universities, gradually establishing 10 new technical colleges. The campus has been designed to focus on four fields during its first phase: advanced materials, life sciences, artificial intelligence and high-end manufacturing, and microelectronics and solid-state electronics.
